Canadian violinist Jane Levitt began her musical studies in Toronto at the age of five. Her most influential teachers include May Ing, Mark Skazinetzky and Katherine Rapoport.
​
A graduate of the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music, Jane
holds both a Bachelor of Music in violin performance and an Advanced Certificate in viola performance.
​
Jane also holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa and is a certified elementary school teacher in Ontario.
​
On stage with SNS
Beginning her professional performance career as a section violist with Symphony Nova Scotia (SNS), Jane has also freelanced with various orchestras and chamber ensembles. As an educator, Jane has taught violin and viola at several schools in the Toronto and Ottawa area.
​
Always feeling a strong connection with popular music, Jane has performed live on stage with many well known artists including Sarah Slean, Holly Cole, Divine Brown, Ronnie Dunn at the Canadian Country Music Awards and with KYGO at VELD Music Festival.
​
With a newfound passion for the electric violin, Jane now specializes in exploring genres outside of the classical realm. A self proclaimed cover artist, Jane loves to put a violin spin on popular, well known tunes and has a wide repertoire spanning many different genres.
​
Jane regularly performs at corporate events for public sector organizations, major banks and multi-national corporations. She was also invited to perform at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
Jane also enjoys working on TV and film projects and
has appeared on breakfast television, music videos for Gordon Lightfoot and Michelle Wright and national commercials.
​
With a love of live theatre shows, Jane has played two seasons with the Toronto Fringe Festival, including a performance at the "Best of Fringe".
​
Jane has also performed for Toronto's Nuit Blanche festival and most recently collaborated with the Transcen|Dance Project dance company on their 2023 show "A Grimm Night".

A Grimm Night
At the start of the COVID 19 pandemic, Jane began an interactive, kid's e-concert series for families and classrooms to help children cope with a changing world and support the online learning environment.
​
She has also worked with Make-A-Wish Canada to provide special performances for children and their families.
Covid Concerts for Kids
With a strong interest in the business side of the Arts, Jane has also worked in management roles with organizations such as the NAC Orchestra in Ottawa and the Scotia Festival of Music in Halifax. She is also a member of the Toronto Musician's Association.
